I charge a flat design fee of $300.00 for trade paperback book covers, hard cover jackets for $400.00 and for both $550.00. Prices are in Canadian (CAD) dollars.

The quotes are only samples, not a price list. Every book is quoted differently. I quote from the category your interior book design best fits into. Below you'll find four categories to choose from along with sample quotes.

 

 

Interior design start at $300.00 and page layout composition starts at $1.00/per page. Both values are based on the overall complexity of your book. All prices are in Canadian (CAD) dollars.

1. Simple design - (black ink)

• Such as Novels
• Few photos with captions, mostly text
• sample quote: based on 300 page

 

2. Complex design - (usually black ink)

• Such as Non-fiction Books
• May have some of these throughout your book: Photos/illustrations with captions, charts/graphs, headings/subheadings, endnotes/footnotes, appendix, glossary, index, etc
• sample quote: based on 300 pages

 

3. Complex design with mass images - (black or colour ink)

• Such as Memoirs or Art Books
• All of the above + mass images, extensive front/back matter
• sample quote: based on 300 pages

 

4. Full complex design: - (black or colour ink)

• Such as Cookbooks or Children’s Books
• All of the above + various layouts within pages that separate different content.

I’LL ASK YOU THESE QUESTIONS THAT'LL PROVIDE YOU AN ACCURATE QUOTE:

 

1. What will be the trim size of the book.
2. What is your manuscript word count.
3. How many chapters do you have.
4. Will your book have an index, glossary, footnotes / endnotes.
5. How many photos are involved - do they need to be prepared for print - are they photographs for me to scan.
6. How many graphics are involved (charts, maps, etc) (are they simple or complex) - do they need to be created or recreated by me, if not in what format and software application have they been saved.
7. What category does your book fit into: Simple design, Complex design, Complex design with mass images or Full complex design.

 

 

THE SOFTWARE THAT I USE

 

I use Adobe InDesign to design page layouts, Adobe Photoshop for all images, Adobe Illustrator for vector graphics and Adobe Acrobat to package.
