Book cover design, book spine design, book back design

FOLLOW THE 8 SIMPLE PRODUCTION STEPS TOWARDS YOUR BOOK COVER DESIGN:

These steps summarize what you can expect during the production process of your book cover/spine/back design and how we’ll be working together. I don’t use any templates; each cover/spine/back design is inspired in its design by the subject matter. That is why each of my cover designs have a unique look.

1. GETTING TO KNOW YOUR BOOK

We’ll have a friendly phone conversation. We’ll talk about your book's subject matter in depth, your book’s vision and the demographic of the reader to establish a solid design direction.

2. YOUR QUOTE

Once we’ve discussed all the details of your book, I’ll approximate the amount of hours to your book’s cover/spine/back design trim size and email you an accurate quote.

3. YOUR BOOK COVER DESIGN PHOTOS AND TEXT

If you have photos or artwork email a Zip file, FTP, or mail me a DVD/CD-Rom containing all your photos or artwork and your text for your cover/spine/back design in a word-processing program.

4. I'LL COLLABORATE WITH YOUR PRINTER

I’ll gather all the proper printing requirements from your printer to properly prepare your files.

5. GETTING TO THE RIGHT BOOK COVER DESIGN LAYOUT

  1. I’ll create a book cover/spine/back design based on the collaboration between you and myself which will be the exact size of your book, and email you a web friendly PDF for you to view. The cover design can be ‘tweaked’ as needed to your 100% satisfaction. You should know that I think visually, and will have a clear view of your cover by the time we end our conversation regarding your design. That is why each of my cover designs looks visually unique from each other.
  2. Once approved I'll create the final artwork which will include your book’s proper spine width (I determine your book’s width by your book's final page count and paper weight), and email you a web friendly PDF for a spell proofing.
  3. I’ll make corrections as needed.
  4. We’ll go back and forth until it's 100%.

6. A READY FOR PRINT PDF FOR PROOFING

Your book cover/spine/back design is emailed to you as a PDF for a final proofing.

7. YOUR BOOK COVER/SPINE/BACK DESIGN IS READY FOR PRINT

Once approved, I’ll email you a print ready version for you to send to your printer. Or if you prefer, I can email or upload your cover/spine/back design to your printer directly.

8. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR BOOK COVER/SPINE/BACK DESIGN

You’re a published author. I’ll email or mail you (depending on the size of the file) a CD-Rom for safekeeping that will include: The Packaged InDesign file (your book cover/spine/back design artwork which will include: photos, fonts, prepress info for your printer and all other elements that were used) and a ready-for-print PDF file.

You’re a published author. This guide is straight forward guaranteeing from start to finish that your plan is achieved in your final book design and that you're 100% satisfied in the end. I’ll market your published book on my website with a link directly to where it can be found and bought.
